Our childhood posters pitted against each other
A Ferrari F40 and F50 owner gave Chris Harris the possibility to compare the two supercars from
Maranello.
One came out in 1987 while the other was launched 1995, but many people still consider the F40 to be the better car. This seems to be Chris’ opinion as well as he prefers the more brutal F40 rather than the more civilized F50. Regardless of your preferences, these are two great examples of what made Ferrari what they are today.
The F40 was built between 1987 and 1992 during which Ferrari produced 1,315 units, considerably more than the F50 which was limited to just 349 units made between 1995 and 1997.
The duo was followed by the Enzo which came out in 2002 and retired two years later after 401 units were produced. The LaFerrari is the most recent prancing horse and will be available in 499 units, with each carrying a starting price of 1.69M USD. Speaking of pricing, when the F40 came out in 1987 it cost 400,000 USD while the F50 was 480,000 USD in 1995.
